In Ixtapa:
10. Wander the strip, hit every bikini shop along the way.
9. Go to the game room at the Hotel Fontan. Play some pool, play some backgammon, drink cold (expensive) beer.
8. Go for sushi at Señor Ito’s. Sit right under the A/C, drink saki, eat noodles, impress your friends with your chop sticking abilities. Right next door to Señor Frogs. (Editor’s note: Señor Ito is no longer open.)
7. Spend a steamy evening in the cool comfort of Christine’s discotec. At the Krystal Hotel.
6. Top off the wee hours at Liquid lounge, dark, smoky and oh so Mexico City. Tucked away on the pedestrian walkway behind Senor Frogs. (Editor’s note: Liquid Lounge is no longer open.)
In Zihua:
5. Wander down Nicolas Bravo, Cuauhtemoc, Galeana and and do some shopping. Galeria Maya on Nicolas Bravo right down from the big red money exchange is always a good bet. (Editor’s note: Galeria Maya is no longer open.)
4. Have some coffee or ice cream at Cafe Glob’s. No matter what it costs, its worth it. Directly across from the market onBenito Juarez.
3. Step into one of the ATM kiosks. You don’t have to get money, just stand in front of the machine and stare at it for ten minutes, everybody else does it. You’ll find several up and down Benito Juarez, hit them all
2. Go to the movies. Who cares what’s playing or if you’ve see it three times already. Main one at the end of Benito Juarez, next door to Casa de Cultura. Second one is In Zihua, on the pedestrian walk at the corner of Nicolas Bravo and Cuauhtemoc. *Cine Flamingo is in Ixtapa, behind Los Patios shopping center, across from Plaza Ixpamar, and shows new releases, 2 per week, in a large air conditioned theater.
